1. Who is responsible

Booknara is operated by VirdisTech LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company, 30 N Gould St, Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States ("Booknara", "we", "us"). We are responsible (the "controller") for the personal data described here.

Our privacy officer, Virdis Anténor, can be reached at support@getbooknara.com.

Where the law requires us to appoint a representative in the European Union or the United Kingdom, their contact details are given in the Country-specific terms.

Professionals are separately responsible for how they use their customers' details for their own business.

2. What we collect and where it comes from

  • Account details you give us: name, email, phone (optional), password (stored only as a secure hash), country and language.
  • Bookings: the service, time, price and deposit, your name, email and phone, the name of the person receiving the service if different, your answers at checkout, and what happens to the booking.
  • Payments: amounts, status and references, which we receive from Stripe. Card details are collected by Stripe and never reach Booknara.
  • Professionals: business details, address, services, photos, availability, payment account status (from Stripe), tax number, fees and statements.
  • Reviews and messages you send us; whether our emails were delivered (from Postmark).
  • Technical data: IP address (to prevent abuse, and to suggest your country), device and browser information, and the cookies described in our Cookie Notice, including a visitor ID used to know whether a booking came from Booknara search.

Giving your name, email and payment is necessary to book; without them we can't take the booking. Everything else is optional unless the form says otherwise.

3. Why we use it, and our legal bases

  • To provide the service: show listings, take bookings and deposits, send confirmations and reminders, and handle cancellations and refunds (performance of a contract).
  • To bill professionals fairly, including working out whether a customer came from Booknara (our legitimate interest in charging only for customers we bring, and our contract with professionals).
  • To keep Booknara safe: prevent fraud, abuse and fake reviews or referrals (legitimate interest in a trustworthy marketplace).
  • To meet legal duties, such as tax and accounting records and answering lawful requests (legal obligation).
  • To improve Booknara with aggregated statistics (legitimate interest).

We don't sell or share your personal data for advertising, and we don't use it for profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects on you. We don't use sensitive data (such as health data) and ask you not to put it in booking answers.

Where we rely on legitimate interest, you can object; where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

4. Who we share it with

  • The professional you book with: your name, contact details and booking.
  • Stripe, to take payments, pay professionals and prevent fraud.
  • Postmark, to send Booknara's emails; Zoho, for our support mailbox; Sentry, to report technical errors (no booking details).
  • Our cloud hosting provider, which stores the service's data.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it.

These providers act on our instructions under written contracts and are bound to protect your data.

5. International transfers

Booknara is run from the United States, and our providers may process data in the US and other countries. Where data leaves a country with transfer rules (such as the EU, the UK, Switzerland, Brazil or South Africa), we use the safeguards those rules recognise, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and their equivalents. You can ask us for a copy.

6. How long we keep it

We keep account data while your account is open, and booking and financial records as long as tax and accounting law requires (typically up to 7 years). Search attribution events are deleted after 30 days unless a booking decision relies on them. Then data is deleted or anonymised.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask to access your data, correct it, delete it, receive a copy in a portable format, object to or restrict some uses, and withdraw consent. You will not be treated differently for using these rights.

Write to support@getbooknara.com; we confirm receipt and answer within one month, or sooner where your law requires. We may need to confirm your identity first. You can also complain to your data protection authority; the authority for each country is listed in the Country-specific terms.

8. Security and breaches

We protect data with encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls and two-factor authentication for our staff. If a breach puts your data at risk, we tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

9. Children

Booknara isn't meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or the age your law sets). A parent or guardian can book for a child and is responsible for that booking. If you think a child gave us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

10. Changes

We'll post updates here with the new date, and tell you about important changes.
